Job Description:
Technical Project Manager required for technology / environmental start up business based in Salford, Manchester. Working within an innovative, fast-paced enviornment, you willl be an experienced Technical Project Manager working as part of a small agile team on challenging projects that will be predominantly Java focussed.

You should be self-motivated and keen to work in a start-up environment. You will operate as the primary point of contact within the development team, helping coordinate and track progress across projects. Other key relationships will include the Commercial / Relationship Development team. Given the heavily focussed Agile setting, experience of leading small and focussed teams in similar areas is a must.

Skills:
Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Operations Director, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of all projects.
  • You will work closely with the product owner and development team and be expected to lead regular meetings reviewing progress against schedule, issues and advise on any mitigating actions.
  • Work with product owner/sponsor to define product requirements and priorities and break these down into implementable chunks for the development team.
  • Work with development team (8-10 people) to clarify requirements where necessary, define dependencies and plan iterations.
  • Track status, identify development risks and issues, and clear roadblocks / escalate as necessary.
  • Report progress and help coordinate with other projects and corporate initiatives.
  • Support the CEO and the Chief Commercial Officer with the writing of bids and proposals - planning, budgeting, writing, etc.

Essential Skills

Ability to work under pressure:
  • Recognised for your ability to plan and manage your time and balance priorities in order to meet deadlines and take decisions in a timely manner. Able to respond to project needs with a sense of urgency and effectiveness

Strong Agile methodologies:
 
  • You know how to plan and manage an Agile project and you understand the principles of iterative delivery and the continued validation of the value proposition
  • A team player:
  • You drive the delivery team culture and will act as mentor to the team and inspire and motivate them not just to delivery successfully, but to enjoy what they are doing

Desirable Skills
  • Project management experience / qualification, preferably in software development (especially agile) environment
  • Previous experience as a Project Manager / Scrum Master – second jobber
  • MSc in environmental tech or similar would be an advantage
