Job Description:
Our rail sector client is now looking for a contract Business Intelligence Analyst to work out of their London based location and be reporting directly into their Data Analytics Manager.

**The client has stated that this role is “IN Scope” the new off pay-role worker legislation - Maximum day rates: £450 To £550 Umbrella.

1.JOB PURPOSE

To lead the provision of high-quality reporting and analytics processes and tools for the programme as well as delivering the data science capability to ensure our client is able to exploit their valuable information and data using the latest tools and techniques.

2.ACCOUNTABILITIES

-Support the company’s strategy for data analysis, ensuring it is in line with business needs, the Delivery Strategy, Information Strategy and IT Strategy

-Lead internal consultancy and delivery projects to enable the organisation to get maximum value from its information

-Monitor emerging technologies for relevance to the needs and propose potential solutions in the areas of business intelligence, management reporting, data exploitation and data analytics

-Lead work to bring data analytics approach into programme controls and design/engineering processes to aid decision making and support their BIM capability, in particular using data to aid cross-functional working across these disciplines.

-Use data science and exploitation to drive intelligent decision making across the entire programme.

-Work with stakeholders across ICT and ensure technology strategy supports data analysis needs, providing the best-in-breed tools to support the organisational requirements. Provides support and maintenance of analytics and BI solutions.

-Work with stakeholders across the organisation to explain, educate and enthuse on the opportunities of information and methods for business intelligence, management reporting, data exploitation and data analytics

-Support the Data Analytics Manager in establishing a high-performing data analytics team as a key part of the overall Information Management team. This team provides support for wider capability in data analytics across the business

3.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE

-Understanding and experience of the value and opportunities of information and data analytics to organisations and large delivery programmes.

-Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of:

-the role of information in businesses

-information/data modelling approaches

-data analytics approaches and tools (e.g. reporting, business intelligence, management information)

-Excellent communication skills and ability to engage at all levels of an organisation

-Strong consulting skills

-A post-graduate qualification is desirable (e.g. MBA, MSc) as is membership of a relevant professional body at Member level (e.g. MBCS)

-Academic achievement to degree level or equivalent qualifications or experience

-Knowledge or experience of using data science approaches to solve business problems

-Experience of using and implementing Business Intelligence (BI) tools and supporting technologies. Experience of Tableau, Alteryx and the Microsoft Data Platform are desirable.

Can supervise specialist technical consultancy. The specialism can be any aspect of information or communication technology, technique, method, and product or application area

-Consultancy (CNSL) - Takes responsibility for understanding client requirements, collecting data, delivering analysis and problem resolution. Identifies, evaluates and recommends options, implementing if required Collaborates with, and facilitates stakeholder groups, as part of formal or informal consultancy agreements. Seeks to fully address client needs, enhancing the capabilities and effectiveness of client personnel, by ensuring that proposed solutions are properly understood and appropriately exploited

-Emerging technology monitoring (EMRG) - Monitors the market to gain knowledge and understanding of currently emerging technologies. Identifies new and emerging hardware and software technologies and products based on own area of expertise, assesses their relevance and potential value to the organisation, contributes to briefings of staff and management

-Systems development management (DLMG) - Agrees, with business management, systems development projects which support the organisation’s objectives and plans. Ensures that management is both aware of and able to provide the required resources, and that available resources are properly utilised and accounted for. Monitors and reports on the progress of systems development projects, using appropriate quality assurance processes to ensure that projects are carried out in accordance with agreed standards, methods and procedures.

4.DECISION MAKING

The Business Intelligence Analyst will have decision making authority for:

-How data analytics is introduced and developed in the business within specific projects including the approach taken and technologies used.

The Business Intelligence Analyst will need to refer to the Data Analytics Manager for:

-Approval of any costs above delegated authority

-Decisions outside the scope of the role or the agreed Data Analysis Strategy

5.OTHER CONTEXTUAL

-Supports the ICT team, PSD and the Information Management team in working with the rail and construction industry, DfT and wider government to exchange best practice, develop cross-government and industry strategic direction particularly in relation to BIM and management reporting of programme performance to the Board, DfT, Cabinet Office & Treasury

6 Months Contract – Inside IR35 – London based.
