Job Description:
Our client makes a difference for their customers by providing custom technology to service all their manufacturing needs: from automation programming to data analytics and consultation services.

As the new project manager, you will oversee the delivery of their programming / information system projects: starting with consultation and design, all the way through budgeting, scheduling, and final evaluation. Using your financial savvy, strong business sense, and background managing project P&Ls, you’ll gain the confidence of clients and internal stakeholders while ensuring projects are delivered on-time and within budget and to the delight of the customer.

You’ll develop and maintain budgets and timelines, as well as coordinate changes and resources. Any background in manufacturing will be great asset in this role, as it will allow you to anticipate common snags and pitfalls that are inevitably part of the project cycle. No matter the scale, you excel in maintaining perspective between major and minor components.

When you’re not monitoring the business aspect of the project, you’ll be interacting with clients, managing your team, and providing direction. That’s why strong communication is an essential part of this role. Whether you’re advising and analyzing client needs, or motivating your team to address ongoing issues, you are clear, measured, and produce results.

The best in this role will do more than guide projects and manage obstacles: they will build trust in clients and advance our reputation towards new business opportunities. You’re influential, tenacious, and comfortable making judgments and critical decisions.

Practically speaking, you will:

  • Manage overall project P&L, draft budgets, estimates, and cost analyses
  • Consult clients and determine scope of client needs
  • Be responsible for maintaining target gross margin
  • Communicate and develop project requirements in partnership with engineers/programmers
  • Prepare and ensure the accuracy of project documents, including charters, status reports, risk assessments, change and resource requests
  • Lead project teams, providing motivation, focus, and guidance as necessary
  • Leverage technical/project knowledge to improve revenue and client relationships
  • Assess team performance and provide feedback
  • Maintain communication between business leads, internal sponsors, management and clients

Our client fosters a creative and collaborative work environment. Because they don’t use the typical corporate hierarchy, their employees build unique relationships based on trust and respect. You’ll feel that difference from day one.

Hours will be flexible, and typically Monday to Friday. There will be some travel involved in this role.

Here’s what your compensation will include:

  • A great starting salary, commensurate with experience
  • Benefits plan, including life insurance
  • Employee share purchasing program
  • Profit sharing bonus
  • Travel insurance

We’re looking for someone to join our team as soon as possible. If you’re looking for a position that will challenge you each and every day, look no further.

Qualifications

-University degree. Preferably in IT, finance, business, or engineering

-Experience managing information systems projects, including design, development, configuration, and developing functional requirements

-Experience managing 5+ people on information system projects

-Demonstrated experience managing project P&L, performing profitability and cost analyses, and understanding financial metrics

-Proficiency in project management best practices and related tools is required

-Experience managing concurrent projects

-Experience in manufacturing or a similar industry would be a strong asset

-PMP or equivalent certification, or experience using a professional services automated tool is an asset

-Valid passport and ability to travel internationally
