Great opportunity for an established Project Manager who is able to work in the Falkland Islands for 9 months. Candidates with Capital build, Oil and Gas and/ or Public Sector experience are particularly encouraged to apply. 

Based on the Islands, working for our public sector client, you will take strategic and hands on responsibility for a project to manage and deliver all workstreams relating to preparations for start of oil exploitation. The subject matter will be diverse, encompassing a significant element of policy and legislative development, as well as some practical and infrastructure developments.

The ideal candidate for this role will be an established Project Manager who ideally has prior experience in a range of capital build projects or even the Oil and Gas sector, delivering projects in excess of £10m+. You will work closely with Government officials, Corporate Directors and external stakeholders, drawing on your previous experience to manage a complex range of activities and monitor and manage the critical path to ensure all key deliverables are completed and in place to meet the demands of the project schedule.  

This is an exciting challenge for a candidate who is open to a temporary move to the Falkland Islands. The post will offer a unique and challenging but rewarding experience for the nine months of the contract.

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject
  • Relevant project/programme management qualification such as PRINCE 2, APM qualifications or Managing Successful Programmes (MSP)
  • A Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering large and complex projects (ie £10m+)
  • Significant experience (eg 10+ years) in senior project delivery roles
  • Experience in the successful application of project principles, governance and methodologies
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to win confidence and maintain credibility
  • Ability to argue persuasively and influence decision makers
  • Able to present complex information effectively to lay audiences and produce concise and insightful high-level briefings and research reports
  • Ability to work successfully in a complex political and stakeholder environment
  • Ability to work effectively on own initiative under the guidance of a strategic steering group
  • Experience of working corporately in a complex multi-service organisation
  • Ability to think creatively to develop new concepts, policies and solutions to identified problems
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to deliver effective presentations and engage pro-actively and constructively with diverse audiences and to communicate confidently with all levels of stakeholders

Accommodation will be provided, and our client would confirm what that would be once they have a candidate identified. Our client is expecting this to be a single person coming to take on the post with no accompanying dependents.

Our client has said they would pay for associated costs for the accommodation, and this would be taxed as benefit in kind. Flights at the beginning and end of the assignment will also be paid by our client. Candidates would be responsible for any heating, lighting, power and service charge costs.
