Job Description:

A PMO Business Partner is required by our social housing charity client for a 12-month fixed term salaried position based in London.

 

**This is an urgent role – interviews and start date ASAP**

 

Our client has an established Group Programme Management Office (PMO) which is at the heart of planning their diverse, challenging and fast paced change portfolio, working with multiple audiences to provide the Executive with assurance that change is being delivered to meet Group goals and objectives.

 

The PMO Business Partner will provide excellent customer service by working in partnership with internal and external stakeholders to ensure our customers’ needs are met and the departmental/team objectives are achieved. This role requires excellent communication skills, with the natural ability to build effective relationships and influence key colleagues across the organisation.

 

Role Specific Tasks:

  • To meet regularly with the business to understand and access their change requirements, ensuring their needs are passed onto the relevant teams for progression, focusing on best practice and taking a flexible outcome-centred approach. 
  • To work across the department in the development of corporate principles of programme and portfolio management and assist teams across the business in interpreting and applying the guidelines
  • To support and challenge business teams on their change journey, providing quality assurance, measuring outputs and outcomes and ensuring a consistent approach to the management of change
  • To take a lead on supporting the business in the effective commissioning of projects that form part of the agreed change portfolio, advising on business cases and budgets prior to submission, ensuring that changes to scope are reported and approved and seen in the wider change context 
  • To provide project and programme assurance and support corporate reporting
  • To support the directorate Heads of Service in carrying out capacity and resource planning, and take a lead on embedding consistent principles into the business
  • To monitor and review the directorate RAID log and be a risk champion for the directorate
  • To help develop and maintain dynamic portfolio plans and dashboards in the directorate that communicate to the Exec/Change Board progress and problems.
  • To help teams look for opportunities to create benefits or service improvements and monitor value realisation across the portfolio
  • To ensure lessons learned from projects are incorporated into future projects
  • To develop and conduct deep dive activity or ‘healthchecks’ into projects that meet significant issues, and assist the business in finding corrective solutions 
  • To ensure compliance and adherence to corporate practices and current applicable procurement and other relevant legislation to assure compliance and best practice methods are adhered to.  

 

Skills/Experience required:

  • Experience of supporting multi-disciplinary teams to deliver programmes effectively.
  • Experience of scoping and supporting the shaping of projects for a portfolio
  • An understanding of the Business Partner approach to delivering services  
  • Excellent communication skills that generate confidence and respect with a wide variety of audiences.
  • Ability to proactively manage conflict between areas of the business
  • A good understanding of practical tools and techniques in the areas of programme management, project management, change management and facilitation
  • Proven record of preparing and delivering accurate and high quality written and verbal reports and a proven attention to detail
  • Proven track record of building and managing effective relationships with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
  • Experience of working cross-functionally with diverse groups to support them through times of change.
  • A commitment to continuing professional development.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure, exercising good initiative and judgement
  • Proven time management and prioritisation skills and ability to work on a variety of tasks simultaneously
  • Demonstrate willingness to be ‘hands on’ – to do as well as to manage
  • A commitment to the end user of our services

Desirable:

  • An understanding of a range of change methodologies and theoretical frameworks.
  • Experience of designing engagement programmes and of managing the communications elements within them

Qualifications required:

  • A-level or equivalent formal education
  • Certification in areas of project management or change management
