Summary of role

From innovative and cost-effective pool solutions for a range of businesses, which include local authorities and leisure centres, our client is re-drawing the landscape of how and where swimming is delivered to the communities.

As a Construction Project Manager, you will be responsible for delivering on their pool and gymnastic centre installations, whilst overseeing the cost side of the business.

You will be experienced in delivering projects on time and on budget and managing cross functional teams of internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Project

•Responsible for overseeing the delivery of all pool and gymnastic centre builds, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time, on scope and on budget

•Chair project meetings with the cross-functional project team including the third-party design and build teams to ensure projects stay on track

•Oversee third-party contractors’ performance on each project

•Work with entire delivery team and lead on project initiation for each design and build – including with third part PM/QS firms

•Act as client liaison during the design and construction phases of a project

Contractors/Suppliers

•Ensure the business has the best and most cost-effective suppliers, negotiating best prices and strong terms of business

•Work with suppliers to collate necessary information for designs and specifications for each build project

•Network with key partners, identify and build successful links in the industry

•Build and maintain effective professional relationships with all contractors

•Co-ordinate and oversee tender process with contractors (with support from third-party PM/QS and Design Consultants) as part of the company’s procurement process

•Work with the QS and contractors through the quotation and estimation phase of all projects

Costs

•Responsible for overseeing all costs related to the pool and gymnastic centre businesses

•Responsible for the gross profitability of all developments

•Estimate and cost for all projects with support from third party QS

•Liaise with the Finance team to ensure clarity on budgets, P&L and payment schedules for each project

Delivery Team

•Build and maintain effective professional relationships with all internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the project goals and objectives are achieved

•Manage the delivery team including the contracting of the following:

- Design Consultants

- PM/QS

- Specialist Pool Contractor

Person Specification

•Minimum of 5 years’ experience within a Project Management role

•PRINCE2 qualified or equivalent

•Minimum of 5 years’ experience of working within the construction industry

•Can adapt to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities

•Ability to manage budgets effectively

•Able to read and track project progress using Gantt Charts / build programmes

•Able to define and deliver against operational KPIs and able to confidently articulate these to others

•Strong written and oral communication and numeracy skills

•Great interpersonal skills to support effective working relationships at all levels both internally and externally

•Skilled user of Microsoft Office

•Educated to degree level or similar

Other Relevant Information

•Flexibility towards working hours and travel throughout the UK, although not frequent this will be regular
