Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will deliver full lifecycle construction project management from front end procurement and contract award through to delivery and build.

The construction is at the start of the procurement process, the contract award is anticipated to be mid-2022. This project is multi-hundred million pounds in value.

This is a complex environment in both technical and political terms, with extensive stakeholder engagement across internal and external bodies. Main contractor experience is required alongside NEC3 contract management experience. Candidates with a strong engineering background are also highly desirable.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • To be responsible for fulfilling the duties and obligations of the NEC3 Project Manager on behalf of the Project Client and the Senior Project Manager.
  • To be responsible for supporting the Senior Project Manager in effectively and efficiently managing the construction contracts within an Integrated Project Team.
  • To be responsible for supporting the Senior Project Manager in establishing, monitoring and managing delivery of consistent contract management, including identification of emergent or systemic problems, leading to resolution.
  • To be responsible for managing and monitoring contract performance.
  • To review and accept programme schedule.
  • To be responsible for supporting the Senior Project Manager in proactively managing risks within the Integrated Project Team scope and support the mitigation of client programme level risks.
  • To be responsible for the Construction Design and Management Regulations (CDM) duties as delegated by the Client Representative.
  • To be responsible for supporting a collaborative culture which enables high performance by encouraging innovation and knowledge sharing between HS2 as the client, other Integrated Project Teams and the supply chain within Integrated Project Teams.
  • To be responsible for creating an integrated partnership with our supply chain, empowering, enabling and facilitating.
  • Actively promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI

Essential experience:
  • Demonstrable construction project management experience delivering large scale, complex projects.
  • Full-lifecycle construction procurement/contract management experience including NEC3 contract experience – front end procurement to delivery.
  • Excellent stakeholder management experience across complex organisations, internal and external, public sector bodies.
  • An engineering background – demonstrable hands on experience, education or relevant qualifications.
  • Experience working for or closely with a Main Construction contractor.
  • Experience delivering rail station construction is ideal – however, experience delivering complex construction projects (airports, hospitals etc) is suitable.
  • Strong communication skills.

This role is a combination of WFH, office (Birmingham) and site (West Midlands) based working.
