Job Description:

A Senior Project Controls Manager is required by our major infrastructure client for a permanent role based in Birmingham.

Based within the clients Infrastructure Directorate – Systems Delivery, you will work across major functions to deliver project controls activities, with this role focusing on change and risk management.

Reporting to the Head of Project Controls, you will work in a matrix organisation engaging across design, environmental, engineering, infrastructure, commercial and systems delivery. There are no direct reports and you will be working closely with senior stakeholders to ensure a robust project controls process is implemented across those functions.

The Infrastructure Directorate is a technical environment and as such a background within engineering would be highly beneficial. This is an internal client facing role working closely with senior (Director level, Head of Department) stakeholders.

The client uses Prism (change) and Xactium (risk) software and prior knowledge and experience would be beneficial.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Demonstrable experience delivering project controls activities across large, infrastructure projects/programmes – rail, highways, airport etc.
  • Demonstrable experience of Project Controls disciplines, including Schedule Management, Cost Management, Change Management and Risk Management – in particular change and risk.
  • Demonstrable experience engaging senior stakeholders across large, complex organisations (director, head of etc).
  • Experience working in a matrix environment – strong communication and influencing skills.
  • Experience working in an internal client facing role or consultancy role.
  • A technical understanding, qualification or background in engineering.
  • Commercial awareness and experience working in a commercially driven environment.
  • Experience assessing, developing and embedding best practice project controls and continuous improvement activities.
  • Hands on.
  • Self-motivated, driven and comfortable working independently.

This role might also suit candidates with experience delivering change and risk management within a PMO environment – please note, this must be within a large, complex, infrastructure organisation.

Closing date: Tuesday 6th May.

Target interview dates: w/c 17th and w/c 24th May.
