Job Description:

Our major transport infrastructure client requires a highly experienced Senior Delivery Sponsor on a contract basis until the end of 2021. This role is based in London.

** In-scope of IR35**

Our client is delivering a major transport infrastructure project and requires a Senior Delivery Sponsor to join the Sponsorship Directorate and lead the accountability for multiple critical work packages.

In this role you will:

  • Lead the client engagement with the Department for Transport, working closely with Director level resources.
  • Support the delivery of the assigned work packages, acting as the interface with senior level government stakeholders to resolve issues and blockers.
  • Ensure correct management of the overall requirements of the work packages, leading on major change and governance.

There are multiple Senior Delivery Sponsors in the directorate, each responsible for at least two work packages. This role will focus on Rolling Stock and Systems and another, dependent on the candidate’s skillset and team requirement.

You will also be responsible for the Rolling Stock and Systems capability transformation as the work package moves into the contract award and management stage. This will involve setting up a sub-organisation and associated processes and procedures to allow the management of the award process and delivery. As such experience in a similar role would be advantageous.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Demonstrable experience working on large, complex infrastructure, rail or transport projects in a sponsorship role.
  • Demonstrable experience working with senior civil servants or large government departments.
  • Excellent relationship management skills and experience leading the engagement with large, senior level stakeholders.
  • Comfortable under pressure with high levels of scrutiny.
  • Demonstrable experience of requirements management and change processes.
  • Excellent leadership and influencing skills and experience in particular, the management of conflicting interests and priorities, and the navigation of highly political environments.
  • Excellent communications skills – verbal, written and presentation skills.

This role is required ASAP – one stage interview to be held 14/07.
