Job Description:

Our mutual insurance client has a requirement for an experienced senior project manager to join their business on a 12-month fixed term contract. This role is London based with some remote working.

 

 

Client:

Our client is a mutual insurance organisation who are in the process of diverging from their parent organisation. The relationship will change from an internal to an external supplier relationship, with the management of the business now done by a dedicated in-house team.  

 

Role:

This role will operate under two distinct roles as a senior project manager and a change manager. You will be responsible for project and product delivery alongside the implementation and user adoption of strategic initiatives. These will focus on moving from departmental to business wide initiatives, working closely with heads of departments, service delivery managers and senior leadership to define and agree future direction for the coming year. This will include document management, membership services, claims and more.

 

Reporting to the CIO, you will form a key part of the project management team, leading the engagement with external suppliers and senior management team.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • To manage project proficiently (execute industry standard project management methodologies).
  • To plan and define scope of projects (demonstrate mastery of detail, able to gather, structure and track information across multiple workstreams with precision).
  • To prepare, document and maintain definitions of the requirements of projects (run workshops to investigate user requirements and complex problems or issues).
  • To plan and sequence project activities and resources (manage and coordinate multiple complex activities simultaneously and provide accurate and reliable reporting to key stakeholders as required).
  • To develop and estimate time and budges (demonstrate knowledge of managing projects to budget, schedule and quality; liaise with the technical teams to ensure that the deliverables are met in accordance with project timescales).
  • To establish and maintain governance arrangements for the delivery of projects, defining clear roles, responsibilities and accountabilities, that align with organisational practice.
  • To produce all project related documentation, monitoring and reporting progress and all the administrative tasks that are required.
  • To produce and maintain Lessons learned logs and RAID logs (Manage and mitigate project risks).
  • To report on benefits realisation and initiatives (coordinate with business analysts and trainers to ensure that the appropriate level of training is offered when required).
  • To manage the integration of project outputs into business-as-usual, addressing the readiness of users, compatibility of work systems and the realisation of benefits.
  • Responsible for the closure phase of the projects (outputs, lessons learned, handover and benefits realisation review plan, KPIs).
  • Responsible for the user adoption and change implementation post delivery.
  • Maintain a close relationship with end users and build a comprehensive understanding of business processes and business terminology.
  • Promote and role model a culture of high performance by utilising open channels of communication, recruiting and onboarding top and diverse talent into the organisation, developing, mentoring and coaching team members, managing team workloads and developing an environment where colleagues feel motivated, supported, included and enabled to deliver at their best.

 

Essential skills and experience:

  • Demonstrable project management experience within agile and waterfall delivery environments.
  • Demonstrable change management experience in particular with implementation and user adoption.
  • Previous experience in a PMO environment.
  • Previous experience managing external suppliers.
  • Strong budget management experience around strategic prioritising of initiatives.
  • Strong conflict management, negotiation, influencing and management of conflicting priorities.
  • Strong communication skills – verbal, written and presentation skills and across all levels of a business.
  • Highly organised.
  • Hit the ground running.
  • Flexible and adaptable to sudden changes.
  • The ability and experience to work independently.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
  • A formal project management qualification i.e., PRINCE2, APM PMQ, Agile etc.
  • Previous knowledge and experience in the insurance industry – beneficial.

 

This role is a 12-month fixed term position to cover maternity leave.
