Job Description:

Our youth education charity client requires a Programme Director to lead a 12-month discovery programme in the North West. This role is a mixture of remote, office and site working.

 

 

Client:

Our client works with partner organisations to assist underprivileged children and young people to help give them the best opportunity to succeed in life. They do this by working closely with local and national organisations to design and develop programmes to target specific areas, examples include literacy, employment and career assistance, community engagement and many more.

 

Role:

They require a programme director to lead a discovery programme, looking into the viability and strategic requirements before future commitments are made. You will work on the ground over a twelve-month period to convene and consult with residents, commissioners, education settings, local services and community partners to inform the decision making and structure of the future delivery model.

 

Multi stakeholder engagement is vital to this role and experience and understanding of the education or social care environments is required due to the complex nature of the engagements.

This is a fast paced environment and they require a candidate who can hit the ground running, is confident working with ambiguity and engaging with

 

Key tasks:

  • Oversee the successful implementation of the client’s Discovery phase
  • Lead and manage a small team overseeing a range of individual projects within the area
  • Building positive, sustainable partnerships, by effectively managing all key external stakeholders and funders that form part of this initiative.
  • Represent the programme externally, including engaging with local and national commissioners to consider new approaches to commissioning the client’s programmes.
  • Deliver final report to the client’s Board and any funders/commissioners on conclusions on whether the conditions for a full scale programme are met and recommendations of the discovery process.
  • Proactively support and facilitate cross programme collaboration and learning
  • Provide key programmatic insight to the wider Senior Executive team as part of a management group shaping organisational strategy and decision-making.

 

Essential skills and experience:

  • Demonstrable programme development experience within the education or youth social care environments – in particular, NEET or at risk youth.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering change programmes.
  • Proven track record of building, delivering and developing impactful programmes and interventions.
  • Experience in building and maintaining relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including those at a senior level.
  • Experience in financial management and budget development.
  • Experience of representing organisations externally.
  • Experience of teaching and/or strategic leadership in the education space.
  • Experience of working closely with disadvantaged communities to bring about locally-led positive social change.
  • Experience in evaluating programmes and reporting on outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong stakeholder and partnership working experience.
  • Ability to hit the ground running.
  • Values driven, committed to positive change around social equality.
