Job Description:

Our youth education charity client requires a programme manager for a 12-month fixed term role based in the North West. This role is a mixture of remote, office and site working.




Our client works with partner organisations to assist underprivileged children and young people to help give them the best opportunity to succeed in life. They do this by working closely with local and national organisations to design and develop programmes to target specific areas, examples include literacy, employment and career assistance, community engagement and many more.



The Programme Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day delivery of some of our key North West programmes at a local level. The projects will involve working with a range of secondary schools, Post-16 providers and senior multi-agency stakeholders serving low-income communities to support them to effectively identify and meet the learning and development needs of their pupils. Key areas include literacy, inclusion, SLCN, NEET and transition.


You will work closely with the senior leadership teams and programme directors, both internally and externally across education and multi-agency partnerships to implement new interventions and improve existing strategies.


Essential skills and experience:

  • Demonstrable experience delivering programmes within an education setting, specifically relating to children and community based multi partnership working.
  • Proven experience of managing relationships with a range of senior stakeholders including senior school and multi-agency leaders.
  • Strong communication skills – verbal, written and presentation.
  • Ability to influence, inspire and to initiate change.
  • Ability to adapt style to work within the Right to Succeed programme management structure.
  • Ability to manage conflict.
  • Excellent relationship management skills and ability to work with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to draw up practical and effective solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team working on a larger project.
  • Sound ICT skills.
  • Numerate with the ability to analyse and interpret pupil data from a range of sources.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks at the same time and to plan effectively to meet programme deadlines.
  • Ability to be highly self-motivated, flexible and effective as a professional who shall largely make deliverables away from the Programme office.


Desirable skills and experience:

  • In-depth knowledge of education improvement (e.g. education policy and strategic planning, system reform, capacity building, teacher professional development, curriculum development, school evaluation and accountability, school leadership, assessment, education economics, etc.).
  • An understanding of the local education landscape in the North West.
  • A knowledge of Literacy, SLCN, Inclusion, NEET and improving outcomes for vulnerable learners:
  • An understanding of research led practice in schools (training will be provided).
  • An understanding of collective impact and implementation approaches (training will be provided).
