Job Description:

Business Project Manager required to work in the newly established Project Management Office (PMO), where you will manage a variety of strategic projects which aim to drive and deliver effective solutions to enhance both client and employee experience, as well as driving efficiencies across this established business.

Flexible hybrid working is the order of the day with the ability to be home based of work out of one of many offices distributed across the South West (Truro, Plymouth, Torquay, Exeter, Taunton, Bristol, Poole, Salisbury). Ideally a car driver you will be expected to spend some time in each location as and when project demands and also for team meetings.

Reporting to the Programme Director, you will form an effective team with the project co-ordinator and business analyst as part of a key central services group. Key to your success will be your ability to work autonomously, ability to be clinical in execution and the ability to maintain a sense of purpose.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Execute the management of a portfolio of strategic projects and related activities. Oversee and manage effective project management from initiation to planning to execution and close.
  • Communicate a balanced, cross-functional perspective, working with all offices, Service Lines, and central business functions, to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity.
  • Create, maintain, and integrate project management governance practices e.g., decision escalation, roles, and responsibilities, into project management and execution.
  • Promote and use project management tools and methodologies to identify objectives and scope, plan to achieve goals and realise benefits.
  • Set and maintain project management milestones and progress to date, reporting status updates including analysing risks and issues.
  • Provide forward thinking and identification of solutions to roadblocks and challenges to the PMO leader and project sponsors.
  • Design, draft and deliver creative and clear communications.
  • Oversee the day-to-day management of the Project Coordinators and related competencies within the PMO.
Person Specification
  • Proven project management experience including managing a portfolio of multiple projects.
  • Strong understanding of project delivery and acceptance processes within a fluid business environment.
  • Proficient knowledge and experience of following project management methodologies including scoping and business cases, funding and budgeting, risk mitigation, planning, execution, and post-execution closing activities.
  • Proven experience of collaborating and teaming with multiple stakeholders to achieve successful business outcomes.
  • Ability to coach project teams to develop and execute problem solving, decision making, sound judgement and assertiveness.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to create and conduct presentations across all ranks comfortably.
  • Degree in a business or technology related discipline preferable.
  • PM certification or Lean Six Sigma certified desirable.
  • Practised user of MS Project, Planner, Teams, Power BI, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. MURAL experience desirable but not essential.
